Anonymous hacked the Boston Police Patrolman’s Association because of the alleged brutality during Occupy Boston.
Let’s get ONE thing straight right now: this entry isn’t about any accusations or reports of brutality. Put that out of your mind.
This movement is about the whole, the 99% of American citizens against the favoritism the government has towards corporations. I have to keep repeating this to myself despite different things, accusations, and reports I’m reading.
One group, in the name of Occupy Boston and Occupy Wall Street overall has hacked into the Boston Police union’s website and posted usernames and personal information of Boston Police Officers in retaliation, and threatened to do more should anyone go against Occupy Boston.
Let’s sacrifice the public safety of the ENTIRE city of Boston, shall we?
(Read the following with intense sarcasm:)
Thanks, Anonymous. You really have my back as a member of the 99%. We’re REALLY sticking it to those horrible officers who are just as screwed over by the government and corporations as we are. Put all that information out on them, call on your followers to stalk and harass. That’s TOTALLY the spirit!!
Back to reality…
What Anonymous has managed to do is reveal a vulnerability in their system. They leave the Boston Police (and the City of Boston) open to attacks from other groups who want to cause harm to the city. Any terrorist group can access this information and be able to track down the officers who were exposed. They can also exploit other vulnerabilities and attack the entire police department and the city as a whole. Without Boston Police strong enough to protect us, the worst can happen to our city, and residents and visitors alike have no protection whatsoever, INCLUDING those camped in Dewey Square.
Their selfish need for attention (because that’s really what it always boils down to) is sacrificing innocent people’s safety. It sacrifices my family’s safety. I won’t sit idle and watch it happen.
I call upon the masses of Occupy Boston to denounce this act and separate themselves from the destructive behavior shown by Anonymous. It ultimately threatens the whole. and detracts from the message they are fighting to get across.

Post-script:
I rarely feel disgusted and sickened about anything. It’s getting really hard for me to support the Occupy Boston movement. I support the message 100%, but I am losing trust and faith in the means in which they are trying to get it across.
