Working retail this time of year is really wearing me down, and I’ve found myself a little without the holiday spirit. (REALLY depressing, no?)
I usually LOVE this time of year, and I have less than a week to get into that feeling, so I’m going to share my FAVORITE Christmas songs of… all… time…! Enjoy!
10. Relient K - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
A very welcome spin on an old classic. Even though I don’t identify as Catholic (like I was raised) these songs still make me feel happy for the season. This version in particular so I can bounce around like I’m back in 10th grade.
9. No Doubt - Oi to the World
No Doubt from a more simple, less-Rock Steady time. Still bouncing around like I’m back in 10th grade…
8. The Ronettes - I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Who doesn’t love this song? I mean, really. And the Ronettes? Perfection!
7. Mannheim Steamroller - Carol of the Bells
The most EPIC version of Carol of the Bells, about EVER. There is no such thing as Christmas without some Mannheim Steamroller.
6. Bruce Springsteen - Santa Claus is Coming to Town
I’m not a fan of the Boss, HOWEVER… there is something about his live version that makes me smile and sing along, every time.
5. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve/Sarajevo
This is right up there with Mannheim… If I made a playlist titled “EPIC XMAS” this would be on there, twice maybe.
4. Wham! - Last Christmas
EVERYONE knows this song. EVERYONE knows all the words. EVERYONE belts this one out like it’s Journey at a dive bar. NO ONE admits to knowing all the words.
3. Leroy Anderson - Sleigh Ride
Best version of this song, ever! First off, it’s instrumental, second, HORSES. There is the sound of a horse-drawn sleigh! Plus, this is my mom’s FAVORITE Christmas song, so it was on a lot during the season.
2. Perry Como - It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas
Yes, this is like one of the unofficial department store Christmas songs, and I work in a department store, but it still brings me to a place where I actually get EXCITED to see Christmas decorations go up in stores and around the cities and towns.

1. Brenda Lee - Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
I know every word, and there is no other version that is as good as this one.
