1. A little disappointed with the Governor’s race, but all in all I knew Cahill wasn’t going to win. At least Deval’s reelection means we won’t have a Republican running MA again, that’s gotta count for something, right?
2. I didn’t vote for either attorney general candidate. I don’t vote republican and I think Coakley’s an idiot. Therefore, no vote from me.
3. Questions:
a. Repealing alcohol sales tax: Hell yes. So there is already and excise tax on alcohol. Why are we paying for a sales tax? Why are my drinking habits supposed to support those who cannot control their addictions? Why is an item being taxed twice? Massachusetts, how about using the excise tax to pay for alcohol rehab programs? Or eliminate the excise tax if you want to charge a sales tax. Valid suggestions.
b. Question 2… basically repealing a law that consolidated the process for developing low income housing. The wording was confusing, but why repeal the law that was passed and make people go to multiple offices to get permits… makes no sense, wastes a ton of resources.
c. Reducing the sales tax to 3% is irresponsible. The people who vote in support of this would be the same people who complain about the potholes on their street not being fixed. Taxes pay for public services. If the question were to reduce it back to 5%, I would consider supporting it. 3% is too low.
Okay, I’m done, soapbox away.
